Australia Fines Picklebet A$19,800 for Self-Exclusion Breach

Australian gambling operator Picklebet has paid a A$19,800 penalty after accepting bets from a customer registered with BetStop, the country’s national self-exclusion system.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) announced the penalty on October 22, 2026.
According to the investigation, Punttaa Pty Ltd, trading as Picklebet, accepted bets on February 9, 2026, from a customer who had joined BetStop just hours earlier. The operator closed the account later that day.
Under Australian gambling rules, licensed operators cannot provide wagering services to people registered with BetStop. They must also close existing accounts and stop sending marketing messages to self-excluded customers.
This is Picklebet’s second BetStop breach finding in 2026. In January, the ACMA identified the company among six operators that had violated self-exclusion rules during 2024.
The regulator has recently taken action against several other operators. Dabble Sports paid A$1,069,200 for failing to close 157 accounts belonging to self-excluded customers. Palmerbet also entered an 18-month undertaking after accepting 312 bets from a registered individual.
The ACMA has warned that penalties for BetStop violations will increase significantly under new laws taking effect on January 1, 2027.
BetStop had recorded 65,430 registrations by June 30, 2026, with 40,160 exclusions still active.
